'He looked inside the box and saw a shrivelled piece of meat, black and red in colour, with a greenish hue where a mould-type substance had started to sprout. The process of decay had caused the flesh to cave in on itself in places making it look like a partially-emptied, lumpy sausage skin."  (Chap 36)

What Readers are saying:

R Whale: This book works so well on so many different levels. The characters are beautifully described and the harsh reality of a serial killer is explored in great depth - a bit harrowingly at one stage! There are many characters in the story that have a great sense of reality about and I would say this is one of the most enthralling books I have read

Debbie: I was lucky enough to win a copy of this book. I thoroughly enjoyed reading it. After only a few pages I was drawn in and couldn't put it down. It's full of suspense with believable characters that lead you through the story in a way that means you can't put it down. Highly recommended reading

J. Brown: An excellent thriller!!! I found the pace brilliant from the very opening lines. The story line was excellent, tragedy from both perspectives - the innocent victims and the perpetrator. It is rarely the case in a thriller that we are drawn to sympathy for the tormented soul who is the killer!! Great character inventions. Truly a great book, never flagged, suspenseful and a fantastic conclusion!!!

C. Arnold: Fantastic read. Was gripped from the beginning to end. Totally recommend this. Actually did recommend to a friend and they couldn't put it down either

Louise: This book is amazing! I was engrossed by the storyline straightaway and devoured the book in a couple of days. The different strands of the story seem disjointed initially but it all comes together brilliantly. There are quite a few characters, especially within the police force but Rhiana describes them so fantastically well that you get to know them and it is easy to follow who is who. I would love to suggest this book to my Book Club, just so that I can discuss it with others!!! Some of the subjects covered may be a little risque for their tastes though! To be honest, this is not my normal genre but like I said, I was totally engrossed and the plot kept my interest until the very final page.

L. Paton: I thought this book was great. A real page turner - I couldn't put it down! If you like James Patterson then this book will be right up your street.

Snakemistress: Superb read, I couldn't put it down. The masterful twists and turns kept me turning the pages, the plot thickening with every chapter. Brilliant characters, a good dose of shock factor and very compelling writing. A* from me.
J. Adams: A great read. A story that grips you throughout to a stunning conclusion. The characters are well developed the story wrapping around them. A really cracking first book, looking forward to the next!
R. Newcombe: Really enjoyed this book. I read with attention to detail as the authors note stated she was a police detective - I think this gave the novel a realistic feel as the characters were believable. Although sad, I liked the way the story was interrupted by flashbacks of past events (don't want to give the plot away) which I found again lent the book a sadly realistic feel. A good read, I would pass this book on to a friend and I hope there are more books on the way.
Y. Wickens: "A fantastic book. Hard to believe that it is a first novel. Amazing characters, gripping story line that has you enthralled to turn the page. Completely had me wanting to read more. Hence I finished the book in two days. Would highly recommend this book. I look forward to seeing the new novel very soon. 5 stars from me."
Z. Hall: "Wow, wow, wow! I've not read a book that had me gripped this much from the beginning, in a long time. This book grabs you by the throat and doesn't let go until the final sentence. What an absolutely brilliant thriller. Key themes in the story cover trust, perception, sexual abuse and mental illness. Think you know people? Guess again. This is a world where everyone's a suspect. Trust nobody. 5 stars...a phenomenal page turner that had me gripped from the first chapter. Would definitely highly recommend."
S Czaban: "What an amazing story. Can't believe how intense it was. Gripping story line, kept me cringing all the way, loved it. I would thoroughly recommend this book. Can't wait to read the next one."
D Elder: "Excellent story, which developed cleverly. A constructive insight into the working of a criminal investigation."
Buzze 4: "Really enjoyed this book. Something a bit different on the cop theme. The plot weaves nicely with no outstanding star like a proper murder investigation with focus on team effort. Racey too which can'y be bad. A++++++"
C. Madden: "A really good read.Grips you from the fist few pages and doesn't let up. I look forward to the next book by this author."
Sinders: "Shockingly brilliant book. Well thought out and brilliantly written. A great read. If you love thrillers you will love this."
S. Daly: "This book kept me gripped until the very end I didn't want to put it down! Great first book."
N Deadman: "Really great book. Very gripping. Would recommend reading it!!"
